Is AI going to replace coding jobs?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is not going to replace coding jobs anytime soon. AI is rapidly transforming software development, helping developers code faster. However, it will not eliminate coding jobs. While AI models have revolutionized many fields, they still rely on code written by human programmers to function. Developers create the frameworks, algorithms, and infrastructure that AI builds upon. Coding enables problem-solving, innovation, and creativity in ways that AI lacks the context to fully replicate.
While AI can code to a certain degree, such as writing short command-line programs and raw code, hardcore coding is beyond its range. Writing raw code is just the first step, but it still needs someone to copy-paste it and run it in the software. For example, when calculators were invented, it didn’t mean mathematicians lost their jobs or got replaced by calculators. Same with programmers: they can use AI for assistance, but the major work still needs to be done manually.
